Here's a little bit about the event:

The first race leg of the Rendez-vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta starts in Royal Greenwich over the Easter weekend.

Following the success of the 2014 Tall Ships Regatta, which attracted 1.1 million visitors, the Royal Borough of Greenwich is proud to welcome back a fleet of Tall Ships to the River Thames. A highlight of the events calendar, the 2017 Regatta is set to be another major event for London.

The Borough’s experience of hosting other large scale events including Sail Royal Greenwich, London 2012 and the London Marathon combined with its rich naval history has made Royal Greenwich London’s home for Tall Ship events.

Maritime Greenwich has had associations with the sea and navigation since the earliest of times and is now a World Heritage Site where you can visit world-class maritime attractions that include the Cutty Sark, the Royal Observatory and National Maritime Museum.

Royal Greenwich has the longest riverfront setting of all the London boroughs and the four days of port festivities will take place along this riverfront in the bustling town centres of Woolwich and Greenwich, with an exciting programme of entertainment, music and fireworks.
